Building a Cross Sectoral Social Protection Database for Southern African and Foreign Ex-mineworkers

The objective is to develop a system that supports identification of claimants or their beneficiaries with owed social protection benefits in Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, South Africa and Swaziland.

Health Focus South Africa is responsible for the design and development of an integrated social protection database for the South African Department of Health. The project includes ex-mineworkers who worked in South African mines from Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Swaziland and internally migrated from other parts of South Africa. Health Focus South Africa will conduct physical tracking and tracing of claimants once the system has been developed. This project will support the release of benefits in the above countries.
